FAQ

Answers to common questions about Racing Picks.

Getting Started

Is Racing Picks free?

Yes. Creating an account, submitting picks, and competing on leaderboards are free. An optional Premium membership adds convenience and race-information features, but it is not required to play.

Which series can I play?

Formula 1, NASCAR Cup Series, and IndyCar. Each series has its own leaderboard and pick page.

Do I need to follow all three series?

No. Play as many or as few as you like. Your stats are tracked independently per series.

Making Picks

When do picks open?

Picks open 5 days before each race and close at the scheduled start time.

Can I change my pick after submitting?

Yes — you can update your pick any time before the race locks. Your most recent submission is the one that counts.

What if I forget to submit a pick?

Without Premium default picks, a missed race means no pick and no points. If you have Premium and saved defaults for that series, they are submitted automatically after the deadline as a scoring safety net.

Can I pick the same driver for multiple positions?

No. Each driver can only appear once in your P1/P2/P3 selection.

Points & Scoring

How are points calculated?

5 points for the correct driver in the exact position, 3 points if the driver finished in the top 3 but in a different spot, and 0 points if the driver finished outside the top 3. Maximum 15 points per standard race before bonuses.

What counts as a "perfect pick"?

A perfect pick is a full 15-point standard score — all three drivers in the exact correct positions.

Can I score more than 15 points in one weekend?

Yes. Fifteen is the maximum standard podium score, but an unlocked Sprint Weekend bonus, a streak milestone, or a Sprint Wager can add more points.

When are results posted?

Results are entered by an admin after the race finishes. Leaderboards update as soon as scores are saved.

What if the results are corrected after the fact?

If official results are corrected (e.g. post-race penalties), the admin can re-score the race and everyone's stats update automatically.

Pick Streaks

What counts toward my streak?

Submitting a manual pick for a standard race extends your streak in that series. Your prediction does not have to be correct; submitting it before the race starts is what counts.

Are streaks shared across all three series?

No. Formula 1, NASCAR Cup, and IndyCar streaks are tracked separately.

What do I earn for a long streak?

You earn 5 bonus points at every 5-race milestone: 5, 10, 15, 20, and so on.

What happens if I miss a race?

Your current streak resets to zero when that race is finalized, unless you have a Streak Shield. A shield is automatically consumed to protect one missed manual pick.

Do automatic default picks keep my streak alive?

No. Default picks can score points, but only picks you submit manually extend a streak.

F1 Sprint Weekends

What is a Sprint Weekend Challenge?

On selected Formula 1 Sprint weekends, you predict the Sprint winner before the Sprint begins. Each weekend has one featured challenge that is earned or unlocked by a correct winner prediction.

Do Sprint picks use the normal 5/3/0 scoring?

No. A Sprint pick is a separate winner prediction. Its result determines whether you earn the featured challenge; your normal P1/P2/P3 scoring applies to the main Grand Prix.

What challenges can appear?

Podium Pass upgrades misplaced Sunday podium picks from 3 to 5 points. Streak Shield protects one missed manual pick. Sprint Wager lets you risk up to 20 available points. Double-Down can turn one exact Sunday position from 5 into 10 points. Wildcard awards 3 bonus points if an extra selected driver finishes in the Sunday top 3.

Can I change my Sprint prediction?

Yes. You can submit or update it until the scheduled Sprint start time. Your most recent Sprint winner prediction counts.

Do I still need to make Grand Prix picks?

Yes. The Sprint Challenge is separate and never replaces your normal P1/P2/P3 picks for the main race.

How does the Sprint Wager work?

You can wager from 1 to 20 points, limited by your current series total. A correct Sprint winner adds the wager; an incorrect prediction subtracts it. Your total cannot fall below zero.

Default Picks & Premium

How do default picks work?

Premium members can save a default P1, P2, and P3 for each series. If no manual pick is submitted, those defaults are automatically entered for the race.

How are automatic default picks scored?

Each default driver who finishes anywhere in the top 3 earns 2 points, for a maximum of 6 points. Default picks do not receive full 5/3 scoring and do not extend a streak.

What else comes with Premium?

Premium currently includes default picks, race-day weather, starting grids and qualifying information, plus early access to selected new features.

Groups

What are Groups?

Groups give you a shared leaderboard for competing with friends or other players. Each group is tied to a specific series and season year and can be public or password-protected.

How do I create a group?

Go to Groups → Create Group. Choose a name, series, and whether the group is public or private. Private groups require a password to join.

Can I join multiple groups?

Yes. You can join as many groups as you like across any series.

Can I leave a group?

Yes — visit the group page and use the Leave Group button. Group admins cannot leave unless another admin is present.
